    The family meal program was launched in March when they realized that many Sullivan County families were finding it hard to put food on the table due to the pandemic. According to Feeding America, nearly 20 percent of children in Sullivan County are food insecure.”

The families in need were identified through this existing list. Knowing that one school-aged student who needs a meal likely indicates a whole extended family that may also have less than they need, A Single Bite, founded by Kirsten and Sims Foster of Foster Supply Hospitality, stepped in to kick their offerings into high gear. ‘Being in the restaurant business and relying on incredible purveyors and farmers who saw 99% of business disappear. We realized we could help replace at least some of the restaurants that stopped purchasing from them and feed our neighbors with food grown and raised by our neighbors.’”

  • A Single Bite Kicks off Program for Sullivan County - On a chilly Saturday evening in November 2019, a small yet enthusiastic group gathered for an intimate event to celebrate A Single Bite, a free, interactive, volunteer-presented program that empowers students to care about the food they eat and where it comes from. The intimate dinner party held at The Arnold House Greenhouse in Livingston Manor, served as a kick-off for both fundraising and community awareness of the project as the foundation enters its fifth year.
