There is a deep connection between A Single Bite and Foster Supply Hospitality, the business we built here where our family’s roots date back over 100 years. Long a tourist destination, the Sullivan Catskills is on a positive trajectory. And yet, our county continues to be one of the poorest in New York State. Before the onset of COVID-19, nearly 20% of children in our community did not have enough to eat. Today, 24% of them live in poverty. Sadly, and all too often, they lack reliable access to enough nutritious food to live a healthy life.
As parents of two young ones, the thought of children trying to learn when they're hungry was too much to bear. That's when our purpose crystalized: Use our hospitality background to help our neighbors and affect a change in health through nutrition.
